Theory of Knowledge (TOK)

The Theory of Knowledge course encourages students to think about the nature of knowledge, to reflect on the process of learning, and to make connections across subjects. IBDP teachers will introduce elements of TOK into their classes, and the TOK teacher will welcome IBDP subject teachers into the classroom to join the conversation about how our various Ways of Knowing (WOK) interact with specific Areas of Knowledge (AOK).

Extended Essay (EE)

Diploma candidates will write an Extended Essay (EE), a 4000-word paper centered on a topic that the student is passionate about. Each student will work with a mentor to choose an area of interest, conduct independent research, and write about their findings. The EE encourages students to develop the independent research skills expected at college.

CAS involves students in a 150-hour experiential project, a “journey of discovery” that incorporates creativity, physical activity, and service. These elements can be intertwined or fulfilled separately. Students develop CAS projects based on their own interests and passions.
