We will be holding a virtual meetings, activities, workshops, and games via Google Meet (code: WaldenIB) on June 9th and 10th (10am-2pm both days). Parents are invited to join us for an orientation on June 9th from 10:00-10:45. We will be discussing important information about the IBDP and answering questions about the IBDP at Walden.
This year, we also are adding a workshop on IB Research for juniors and an Extended Essay Boot camp for seniors where students can build skills to succeed in the IBDP.
There are 3 ways to participate in the Walden IB program:
Diploma candidate: take IB classes in each of the 6 subject areas, plus a Theory of Knowledge (TOK) class, write the Extended Essay, and complete the CAS project. Students must apply for the IBDP and register for exams. Completion of the diploma transfers as 30 credits (a full year) of college credit at most univeristies.
Course certificates: take at least one IB class to get college credit. Students must apply for the IBDP and register for the exams they want to get college credit for. Many universities award credit for one to two semesters per course taken.
IB Associate: take at least one IB class to count towards high school graduation. Students do not need to register for exams.
The retreat is open to all Walden juniors and seniors, and is required for all juniors and seniors wishing to pursue the IB Diploma or the IB Course Certificate.
